Works suspended at Ireland’s Killala biomass CHP

Ireland's Mayo Renewable Power (MRP) has issued a suspension notice to the main contractor for its 42MW combined heat and power (CHP) biomass-fired plant in Killala, County Mayo because of financial difficulties. The suspension notice was issued because of “an inability to conclude the financing” of the project, MRP said. MPR is a wholly owned subsidiary of US firm Weichart Enterprise, which was to finance the ?180mn ($197mn) project alongside three loans from banks Allied Irish, Ulster and Barclays.
