Germany’s wood pellet production fell to a four-year low in 2015 as low heating oil prices and mild weather curtailed growth, pellet association DEPV said. Germany produced around 2mn t of pellets last year, 5pc less than in 2014. Production in October-December was just 497,000t, the lowest fourth-quarter level since 2011. German pellet consumption rose by 3pc on the year to 1.86mn t in 2015, although consumption was well below a 2.1mn t forecast for the year (see table).
