Finnish Vapo to restart Ilomantsi pellet plant

Finland's increasing domestic market for pellets and a new agreement regarding pricing of district heat for the munici-pality of Ilomantsi has made it profitable for Finnish biomass producer Vapo to restart its pellet production plant and con-nected heat and power(CHP)plant. Vapo aims to restart the plant by autumn of this year. The company expects production of 40,000t of premium pel-lets by 2015,and targets the expanding domestic market, Vapo told Argus.The raw material for the pellet plant will be primarily sourced from Vapo’s sawmills in Lieksa and
