Poland reinstates biomass co-firing support

Poland's new renewable energy law, which increases support for biomass-fired power generation, came into effect on 1 July, but suppliers expect it will take some time before the law translates to greater biomass demand. The law reinstates incentives for co-firing biomass with coal and lignite which were cut at the start of this year. Local biomass will also be supported from January 2017, allowing time for the government to prepare regulations on what specific biomass sources will be preferred.
