Different patterns of lymphatic spread of sigmoid, rectosigmoid, and rectal cancers.

TO THE EDITORS:We read with great interest the article of Park et al. concerning the lymphatic spread of tumors of the recto-sigmoid junction. It is a well-written paper concerning a very interesting subject. The authors categorized these tumors into sigmoid, rectosigmoid, and intraperitoneal rectal cancer groups based on preoperative sigmoidoscopy and intraoperative findings and studied their lymph node metastasis pattern.
