US domestic carriers receive a boost

Following widespread opposition in the US shipping community, including the US Chamber of Commerce and the Government of Puerto Rico, a provision included in a bill issued by Congress' Joint Committee on Taxation has been withdrawn. At the same time Congress is making available shipbuilding funds, to boost the US flag maritime industry.
