APL severs Australia/China ties

APL has ended its partnership with Cosco and PIL in the SAS/ CAS service linking China and Australia. While no official comment was available at the time of writing, CI express understands that tension has existed between Cosco and APL since 2006. The alliance emerged from combining two separate services, one featuring Cosco with K Line, MOL and NYK as slot-charterers (5 × 1,700TEU ships) and the other of APL, Gold Star Line and PIL, with MISC as a slot charterer (5 × 1,750TEU vessels).
