Chinese ports top 100 million TEU

Although full-year (2007) throughput figures for China's box ports were not available at the time of writing, the 100 million TEU barrier was easily exceeded. Data published by the Ministry of Communications (MoC) for the period up to the end of November 2007, for instance, revealed that the country's ports had already handled in excess of 100 million TEU (102 million TEU), the first country in the world to do so. This represented an increase of 21.7 on 2006's level.
