Underlining the euphoric market conditions currently being enjoyed by container terminal operators, A P Moller-Maersk's APM Terminals (APMT) reported another set of Stella results for H1 08. Compared to the same period in 2007, the division's revenue increased by 27, up to USD 1,517 million, whilst its operating profit (EBITDA) rose by 49 to USD317 million. This produced a return on sales of 21. Its container terminals increased their throughput by 9 in the first half. Moreover, in line with the group's policy of seeking more third-party business, Maersk Line's share of APMT total traffic fell from 76 to 72. Although AMPT's performance was impressive, it still fell well short of Hutchison Port Holdings' (see 'HPH's H1 08 RoS soars', p21).
