US: FeCr, FeSi rise on supply concerns

Ferro-chrome prices rose this week as consumers showed greater buying interest in the spot market amid supply concerns regarding South African-origin alloy. Increased freight costs, container shortages and supply concerns also lifted ferro-silicon prices. Consumers enquiries for alloy rose as port closures in South Africa in recent weeks sparked concerns about delayed shipments in the near term, which sent prices higher. Argus assessed prices for 65pc grade alloys with high carbon content up at $1.33-1.38/lb today, rising from $1.28-1.35/lb on 15 July.
