Rio Tinto cautious on outlook for Al sector

The aluminium sector has rebounded strongly over the past few months on solid downstream demand, particularly in the automotive and packaging sectors, but UK-Australian resources firm Rio Tinto is retaining a cautious outlook. “We remain cautious on the outlook due to an expected increase in Chinese aluminium supply and high global inventories,” the firm said in commentary accompanying its production report for October-December and 2020.
