More carriers have confirmed that their financial performance in Q4 09 has improved, suggesting that the worst of the recessionary storm may be over, even if serious losses are still being incurred. Financially troubled Zim Line saw its revenue improve by 15.4% over Q3 09, up to USD688 million, even though Q3 is normally a seasonally better period than Q4. This was partly due to a 9.4% increase in cargo, to 498,000 containers and a 10.6% increase in average freight rates, to USD 1,136 per container.
