Maersk trials 'no show' charges

Copenhagen-based Maersk Line is setting up two pilot programmes to test the viability of using 'no show' container fees to reduce incidence of booking falldown (confirmed shipper bookings that do not materialise) and rolled containers. Its first trial will commence on May 1, 2010 and will apply to certain US commodity exports moving out of Los Angeles and Oakland on its westbound TP8 transpacific service. However, the scope of the trial may be expanded to other services and cargo types in the future.
