SAGT outperforms SLPA

South Asia Gateway Terminal (SAGT), the private terminal, which is managed by the local conglomerate John Keells Group, has outperformed the Government-controlled terminals at the Port of Colombo. In the first 10 months of 2009, SAGT's market share reached 50.3 of Colombo's total throughput, with 1,440,323TEU handled. Volumes had dropped just 1.6 (from 1.464.094TEU) compared with a 14.3 decline at the Sri Lanka Port Authority (SLPA) facilities.
