FMC to review conference ban

The Washington-based Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) plans to undertake a comprehensive study on the impact of the European Union's (EU) ban on conferences ban on US shipping trades. FMC chairman Richard Lidinsky announced the probe during a speech to delegates at the 2009 Intermodal Expo and TransComp Exhibition in Anaheim (CA) in November. Lidinsky told CI that the study was first initiated following the EU conference ban in October 2008 in response to shipper concerns.
