Beating congestion

As with many other European countries, road traffic congestion remains the biggest impediment to supply chain efficiency in Germany. Getting around and through cities is a growing problem, particularly during the rush hour. This explains why so much effort is being made to make intermodal transport work more effectively in Hamburg and Bremerhaven. The ports also know that if they slip up, Rotterdam and Antwerp will be only too happy to take their business away.
