The burgeoning Asian middle-classes are fuelling the growth of the reefer market

The growth in the temperature-controlled cargo sector within the Asian market has been extremely strong in recent years, with Seabury Group data revealing a total rise in volumes from 9O9.66OTEU in 2009 to almost 1.1 million TEU in 2011 (see table). By 2014, the trade consultant expects traffic to reach close to 1.5 million TEU, an annualised rate of increase of more than 10%.
