Harwich terminal project flounders

Hutchison Ports UK (HPUK) dramatically withdrew its plans for the development oftheon-off GBP300 million container terminal at Harwich, across from its Felixstowe facility, after the UK Government announced that it was to hold a public enquiry. HPUK confirmed in a letter to the local Tendering District Council (TDC) that its decision to withdraw the application was made 'particularly in light of the anticipated costs and delay associated with a public enquiry'.
