Med ports can cut emissions

Increased use of Mediterranean container ports can make significant cuts in forecast C02 emissions from the Asia-Europe box trade over the next 10 years, according to ports group Intermed. Intermed- comprising the ports of Barcelona, Marseilles and Genoa - told members of the European Parliament that if current box flows continued to be dominated by north European ports, CO_2 emissions from Asia-Europe traffic will increase 199% in the next 10 years.
