WEST AFRICA'S PORTS GEAR UP

Vessel cascading, new terminal openings and high growth levels recorded on services to West Africa have led to a rapid increase in the size of container ships in operation in the region. Previously, the larger vessels operating on the coast were 1,600 teu and it was highly uncommon for any of these to be gearless. Now much larger vessels are deployed, often gearless and often serviced by much more reliable ship to shore gantry cranes than existed back then.
