FINANCIAL NEWS. Apr-Sep 2007. Proton's pre-tax loss improved from year-ago levels over the first six months of 2007/08 but the company's position remained weak. Revenue was 8.8% lower at M$2.45bn despite a small improvement in car sales. In the second quarter alone the company reported a small pre-tax profit of M$4.95m and a net profit of M$3.5m. The weak results are simply a reflection of Proton being unfit to withstand increased competition in its domestic market.
