Having been a great fan and supporter of the MEPA (Marine Environment Protection Association) concept since I first saw it in action in Greece in 1986, I am very proud to have been one of the founders of AUSMEPA (The Australian Marine Environment Protection Association). As current Chairman of AUSMEPA, I succeeded the great Michael Alexander, an Australian resident Greek shipowner of vast experience and almost limitless global contacts. He maintained the Greek connection with the original HELMEPA (Hellenic MEPA) which certainly helped enormously in our impoverished early days.
