Double-row Labral Repair: Knotless Suture-bridge Technique

Arthroscopic repair of Bankart lesions has advanced significantly in recent years. However, failure rates still remain high with certain patient populations and pathologies. Recent anatomic and biomechanical research has demonstrated that double-row labral repairs significantly improve restoration and pressurization of the native capsulolabral footprint compared with a standard single-row repair. In addition, double-row repair eliminates the need for knot tying, minimizing foreign body material in the glenohumeral joint. We describe an arthroscopic double-row labral repair technique using a knotless suture bridge. Preloaded suture anchors are placed medially on the glenoid neck, and the sutures are passed through the detached capsulolabral tissue. These sutures are then tensioned and fixed to the glenoid face with knotless suture anchors creating a low-profile, biomechanically stable double-row labral repair.
