Dow moves ahead with 'world-scale' investments.

The chemical firm has said that it will begin construction of its 'world-scale' 1.5MM-mt/y ethane cracker in Freeport, Texas on June 30, and that the project is on schedule to come online in HI 2017. Dow Chemicals also plans to build 200K mt/y of ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) capacity, 320K mt/y of elastomers capacity, 400K mt/y of "enhanced polyethylene capacity," and 350K mt of "specialty" low-density polyethylene capacity.
