Our colorful front cover features multiplexed staining of a section from a human tonsil with Hoechst/nuclei (blue), CD3 (red), cytokeratin (yellow), CD19 (green), Podoplanin (white), CD1c (magenta), and CD31 (cyan). This is just 7 of 46 markers that were used to stain this tonsil and four other human lymphoid tissues, providing a distinct view into spatial single-cell biology. This image is taken from Kennedy-Darling et al. (pp. 1262-1277), where the authors present the CODEX (Co-Detection by indEXing) multiplexed imaging technique, employing oligonucleotide-barcoding of antibodies that enables up to 60 markers simultaneously stained in a single tissue section.
