In support of the greater knowledge brought by therapeutic training and the increasing skills of optometrists, such a diagnostic facility will function as an extension of an optometrist's clinical practice and will enable them to better care for their patients. Optometrists should be the focus for community screening for eye diseases as well as diabetes. To do tiiis they need to have access to the latest diagnostic technology so that they can detect, monitor treatment and share in patient care.
