AL MUBSHIR: Compact, lightweight and cost-efficient naval logistics and support vessel

As tne first or two sister vessels designed and built for the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO), Austal's 72.5m loa high-speed support vessel (HSSV) Al Mubshir could be described as a more compact and lightweight take on an established warship design. The vessel was developed specifically for the RNO based on the 103m expeditionary fast transport (EPF) platform that Austal developed for the US Navy in 2008. The all-aluminium Al Mubshir, which was handed over to the RNO from Austal's Henderson yard in Australia in May 2016 (her sister vessel, Al Naasir, followed in September), can accommodate up to 260 troops and offers medium lift aviation support, courtesy of a helicopter deck.
