Asian Market Drives Growing Global PVC Demand

Global demand for polyvinyl chloride (PVC) continues to grow, primarily in Asia. Demand for PVC worldwide reached 46.16 million tons in 2019, an increase of more than 25 million tons from 1995. And Asia – not including Japan – has more than doubled its share of this total over the same period, reaching around 60 percent. PVC is used for a wide range of applications, including pipes, wire coatings, pharmaceutical packaging, tents, erosion control sheeting, wallpaper, flooring materials and curtains.
