Protecting children and young people

On 3 September 2012, the General Medical Council (GMC) guidance 'Protecting children and young people: the responsibility of all doctors'1 came into effect. This guidance from the GMC should be welcomed and should command support from all doctors, and other health professionals. The circumstances that led to the development of this guidance came about from the GMC's handling of a fitness to practice hearing relating to Professor Southall in 2010.
