In an effort to improve the current economic situation in the country, 14 PDVSA-branded retail stations on the border between Venezuela and Colombia are being added exclusively to sell fuel to Colombian motorists. The new stations, which are expected to be operational by the end of this month, will only sell to vehicles registered in Colombia, and payment will only be taken in Colombian pesos. The move comes amid some 100K b/d of subsidized Venezuelan diesel and gasoline being illegally sold by smugglers on the higher-priced Colombian market.
