APOE and cortical superficial siderosis in CAA Meta-analysis and potential mechanisms

摘要

This study tested the hypothesis that the presence and severity of cortical superficial siderosis (cSS) are associated with the APOE 82 allele, and it found that cSS presence and severity are associated with the APOE 82 allele. The current hypothesis is that the APOE 82 allele promotes cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA)-related vasculopathic changes that result in cSS. This meta-analysis shows that the existing literature supports this hypothesis.
