Embolic stroke of undetermined source correlates to atrial fibrosis without atrial fibrillation

This study tested the hypothesis that patients with embolic stroke of undetermined source (ESUS) have atrial fibrosis levels that are similar to those of patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) and higher than those of healthy controls (HCs). The results show that atrial fibrosis levels in patients with ESUS are similar to that of patients with AF and higher than those of HCs.
