Canada: Inco and Sud-Chemie venture to develop diesel emission control materials

TORONTO-BASED Inco, a producer of nickel and nickel specialities, and Munich-based Sud-Chemie, a supplier of catalysts, have formed a joint venture company, Alantum, to produce and market catalysed diesel emission control materials for the automotive industry. Initially, Alantum will produce diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and diesel particulate filter (DPF) applications for the European passenger car and light truck markets. According to the two companies, a new facility at Sud Chemie's Heufeld site in Germany will handle production, scheduled to begin in 2008.
