US: Metaldyne announces damper isolation pulleys contract

METALDYNE says it has secured a contract from an as yet unnamed Asian automotive manufacturer, to supply damper isolation pulleys for diesel engines used in passenger cars and SUVs. According to the company, the value of the programme is approximately US$12m annually, with production scheduled to begin in 2008. Metaldyne states that the system consists of an isolation pulley (a belt pulley driven by a rubber coupling) and single mass damper (for manual transmissions).
