Russia: Amtel in talks to sell plants to Continental

AMTEL-VREDESTEIN has confirmed discussions, albeit at an early stage, with Continental, in relation to possible areas of cooperation in Russia. Russian business daily Kommersant quoted a source close to Amtel-Vredestein as saying that Amtel-Vredestein is negotiating the sale of a majority stake to Continental and that the deal is expected to be finalised in March 2007. The business daily also added that a delegation from Continental inspected Amtel's Russian plants in late October and early November.
