To determine in what way fetal pulse oxymetry behaves in various types of altered electrocardiotocographic (ECG) tracings and correlates with neonatal outcome MATERIAL-METHODS: Pregnant women undergoing active phase of labor with singleton pregnancies and gestational age ranging between 32-42 weeks were enrolled. ECG recordings revealed normal fetal heart rate pattern (FHR) or altered heart rate tracings defined as variable or persisting late decelerations. Monitoring of fetal oxygen saturation (FSpO2) for at least 30 minutes was conducted. The initial and final pulse oxymetry readings, FSpO2 values in the first stage of labor and changing throughout deceleration and recovery phases minute by minute, the duration of pulse oxymetry recordings <30%, the frequency of pulse oxymetry recordings <30% were determined. Fetal acidosis, requirement for resuscitation, admission to intensive care unit were evaluated. One way AN-OVA, Tukey test, Chi-square test, multiple logistic regression model were used for the statistical analysis where appropriate.
