Effect of Advanced Maternal Age on Pregnancy Outcome and Rate of Cesarean Delivery

The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of maternal age on perinatal and obstetric outcome in women aged 30-34 years and those 35 years or older and to estimate whether adverse outcome was related to intercurrent illness and pregnancy complications. MATERIAL-METHODS: A retrospective case-controled study. In this cross-sectional records of 2162 deliveries occurred between 01 January- 31 December 2006 in our hospital with obstetrics and gynecology department. 452 women which were consist of 154 women 35 years old or older and 298 women aged at 30-34 years old as a control group were evaluated. Retrospective analysis of the antepartum and intrapartum records was done to compare clinical outcome. Statistical analysis was done by using the Chi-square, student's t, fisher exact, mann witney u and tests.
