Higher offers push CIS billet prices up

Steel billet producers in the Commonwealth of Independent States continued to raise their offer prices for foreign customers this week following the recent uptick in Turkish import scrap prices. On Tuesday September 8, Turkish ferrous scrap import prices exceeded $300 per tonne on the strength of the rebar and billet markets. A steel mill in the Marmara region booked a Baltic Sea cargo comprising an 80:20 mix of No1 and No2 heavy melting scrap at $302 per tonne, shredded at $307 per tonne and bonus at $312 per tonne cfr late on Monday September 7.
