US: Siemens VDO to unveil new modular cockpit

SIEMENS VDO Automotive is presenting its fully operational CESAR (cockpit electro-mechanical system architecture) modular concept at the Ward's Auto Interiors Show in Detroit on 7-8 June 2006. "The four core aspects of the CESAR cockpit platform comprise modularity, integration of all the electronic systems, a user-friendly HMI (human-machine interface) and an integrated common substructure. The modular construction makes it possible to respond with ever-greater design flexibility to individual requirements and market changes," said Frank Homann, vice president of Cockpit Modules and Systems at Siemens VDO North America.
