US: Continental expects losses to continue

CONTINENTAL expects its passenger car tyre business in the US to continue to post losses in 2006, reported Forbes. ''It could be possible that losses will be made again in 2006 and this is likely to happen if prices of raw materials continue to increase. However, in the first quarter of 2006 the losses were lower than in the same period last year, mainly due to growth in unit sales of the highly profitable replacement tyres products,'' said Alan Hippe, chief financial officer, Continental.
