US: Dana introduces new gasket technology

COMPONENT manufacturer Dana has begun production of an advanced engine sealing technology with electronic features. The product, a valve-cover gasket, is fitted to an inline sixcylinder diesel engine that powers class two and three trucks. The gasket provides power connections for fuel injectors, solenoids, sensors, actuators and glow plugs. It simplifies production by reducing the number of components and lowering assembly time and costs. It is also expected to offer advantages such as multiple conductor sizes, integrated wiring harnesses and an increased resistance to heat extremes. The company is supplying this new product to a North American engine manufacturer. Under the programme, Dana will also supply the valve and breather cover for this engine beginning in 2007.
