Mexico: Bridgestone planning carbon black facility

BRIDGESTONE has announced plans to construct a plant in Mexico to manufacture high-quality carbon black, which is in increasingly high demand due to the expansion of the company's tyre plants worldwide. Mexico Carbon Manufacturing, a wholly-owned member of the Bridgestone Group established on 2 September 2005, will operate this new plant. The company plans to invest around ￥8.9bn (US$81m) into the facility. The new plant, scheduled to begin production in June 2008, will have an annual capacity of around 35,000 tonnes. This new plant will be Bridgestone Group's third carbon black plant, joining facilities in Japan and Thailand.
