Japan: NEC Electronics outlines new business strategy

NEC Electronics has announced a new strategy to enhance its automotive microcontroller (MCU) business and help it achieve its goal of becoming the world's foremost supplier of automotive microcontrollers (MCUs) by 2010. The company plans to acquire a 20% market share by 2010, or approximately ￥140bn (US$1.2bn) in sales from automotive MCUs. In order to achieve this, the company is intensifying and streamlining its global manufacturing and quality control functions.
