Sweden: Scania to transfer axle and gearbox production back to Sodertalje

IN a move designed to save costs of almost SKr300m (US$38.5m) per year and to gain greater quality benefits Scania has announced that, over the next three years, axle and gearbox production will be moved from factories in Falun and Sibbhult to its main plant at Sodertalje. While all affected employees will be offered continued employment with Scania, the company is also trying to find replacement industries in the affected communities.
