China: TRW establishes new steering facility

TRW Automotive's commercial steering business has established a new manufacturing unit in Changchun, in the northeastern province of Jilin, China. Located in the Changchun high-tech development zone, the 30,000sq-m site houses TRW FAWER Commercial Vehicle Steering Systems (TFCVS), TRW's joint venture with Chinese vehicle manufacturer First Automobile Works' (FAW) subsidiary FAWER. TRW holds 55% of the venture equity while FAWER holds 45%. The facility supplies more than 20 types of steering products to domestic and overseas commercial vehicle markets and exports machined components to the US and Mexico. Primary customers are medium- and heavy-truck manufacturers.
