UK: Survey highlights dangers of using satellite navigation

A survey conducted by Privilege Insurance on the use of vehicular satellite navigation systems has highlighted the danger of using such systems and their link to road accidents. Use of in-car satellite navigation systems was noted as one of the most common causes of road accidents. The survey of almost 2,000 people in the UK revealed that 19% of drivers who used their navigation systems were distracted, compared to 17% who read maps. "Our research shows even satellite navigation equipment, if used incorrectly, can lead to driver danger," said Ian Parker, managing director of Privilege.
