India: Webasto Motherson relocates assembly line from Germany

WEBASTO Motherson has relocated an assembly line from Germany to India in a bid to increase the sourcing of automotive sunroofs from its India operations, reports Hindu Business Line. This strategic move will considerably reduce the cost of manufacturing as well as provide easy access to the Indian automotive market. Webasto Motherson, a joint venture between German firm Webasto and Indian company Motherson, currently manufactures about 13,000 sunroofs a year. This may soon increase to about 18,000-20,000 units as a result of the relocation strategy.
