India: Blaupunkt ventures into coach entertainment segment

BLAUPUNKT has launched a new range of audio and video systems for entertainment and information for coaches. The products range from DVD video players to television tuners as well as coach monitors in different sizes. "With the government investing heavily in highway development and the inter-city traffic growing, there is a huge opportunity in the truck and coach entertainment segment," said Blaupunkt deputy general manager for car multimedia Ajay Sahney. The company will concentrate on the original equipment market to sell its new range. Blaupunkt is already an original equipment supplier to the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), as well as a host of manufacturers including General Motors, Tata and REVA Electric Car Company.
