Shell posts strong 4Q earnings, completes assimilation of A and B shares.

UK-based oil major Shell reported a 4Q profit of $6.4B, up from $393MM in 4Q 2020 and well-above the analysts' average estimate of $5.2B as the company capitalized on rising oil and gas demand and prices. During the quarter, Shell noted oil trading had slowed, but gas trading flourished amid the surge in demand and tight supply of the commodity in some parts of the world.
