Plate prices flat while mart assesses demand

Prices for carbon steel plate in the United States held steady for a second week, with market participants watching the lead times at mills as a potential harbinger of a price hike for May shipments. Fastmarkets' weekly assessment for steel cut-to-length plate carbon grade, fob mill US was unchanged at $51.50 per hundredweight ($1,030 per short ton) on Friday February 19. The assessment remains up 106% since falling to its 2020 low of $25 per cwt in August.
